Question
In less than 200 words, what main research questions are you working on? Please make sure to first include a brief context and background to your research, articulate your question(s) and conclude with why you think it’s important to study the them (i.e., the potential broader impacts).
Answer
The goal of my laboratory is to build a multi-scale model that describes how a living brain interacts with its environment. To achieve this task, my lab studies the brain of the larval zebrafish. We seek to understand the behavioral algorithms that govern behavior and how these algorithms are implemented into realistic circuits. Why is this important? Achieving a basic and general understanding of brain function helps us understand the essence of what makes us what we are. I believe there is a fundamental value and relevance in the gathering of knowledge and understanding that does not need to be justified by any ulterior motives. Visit My Lab Website
