Question
In less than 200 words, what main research questions are you working on? Please make sure to first include a brief context and background to your research, articulate your question(s) and conclude with why you think it’s important to study the them (i.e., the potential broader impacts).
Answer
Our lab is interested in understanding the known unknown regions in the human genome. In this process, we have developed an interest in elucidating the function of non-coding RNAs and their role in regulation in immunomodulatory/metabolic diseases. Our particular focus is on elucidating the mechanisms underpinning long non-coding RNA (lncRNA )-protein interactions. Come next generation sequencing, a challenge remains on classifying the intron-exon boundaries. For example, in a recent clinical exome study, we identified lncRNAs associated with proteins causal to rare diseases. We are further investigating their role using systems genomics approaches.  Learn More
